new york times article
The article was mainly about how teachers believe that today's technology is shortening their students attention spans and making them less willing to learn. Apparently technology is affecting student's academic skills. I do kind of agree that it is shortening student's attention spans and making them uninterested in learning. There are teachers who have noticed a decline in their students attention spans and seem less creative and engaged in their work. I mainly agree with some of this because I'm actually doing a research paper right now on how the Internet and other types of media affect the way children learn and socialize. I've learned that children do seem to do better in school and are more willing to interact with other kids when they aren't given too much time on the computer or TV. However, the different types of media can help children learn and improve academically if they play educational games and go to educational/learning websites. For example, if someone who doesn't have a computer was given one and went to educational websites, they would improve a lot more academically than a child who was given a computer and went to nothing but random gaming and music websites and other things like that.
